Taking these advanced tools underlines Albania's increased military capacities, strengthening co-operation between Tirana and Rome, as well as the EU's commitment to consolidating NATO's southern wing.
According to analysts, this initiative is part of a trend of growing militarism in the Balkan region, while simultaneously strengthening regional security and Albania's role in international operations.
What's LMV2?
LMV2 is the second generation of multistrong armoured vehicles 4584, which comes with improved protection and performance compared to the original LMV model.
Advanced Defense The reinforced vehicle structure provides protection against mines, IEDs, and ballistics fire.
Transport Capacity It can transport between 5 and 7 equipped troops, being suitable for tactical and peacekeeping missions.
High performance With engine 200 kW (280 kf), advanced transmission and improved suspension, LMV2 is capable of coping with difficult terrain and extreme conditions.
International Use This model is already used by the armies of Italy, the United Kingdom, Norway, and other NATO countries.
Possible Arming
The LMV2 does not have a unique weapons configuration, as it serves as a multiplay platform. Equipment depends on the needs of user armies:
Remote-controlled tower (RCWS) with a 7.62 mm machine gun or 12.7 mm.
Gun launcher 40 mm.
Antiaircraft or antitank systems (ATGM), according to requirements.
Armed version, for transport of troops and logistics.
The handover of these vehicles is expected to mark a new stage in strengthening Albania's defence capacities and to deepen its integration into NATO and EU security architecture.
