In the Council General's political statement, Kosovo's Government and Parliament are reportedly practically blocked and transformed into propagandistic instruments of a single party. Institutions are not party property they are citizens and should be in the service of citizens and democracy.
“Vetevendosje has deliberately failed to function democratic institutions and is turning Kosovo into a state seized by the will of one man and one party. This government has ruined the principles of dialogue and national consensus, replacing them with arrogance, political anger and blocking any opposition voice and threatening the media and the voice of journalists”, the AAK says.
The current government in the resignation reportedly does not represent the will of citizens, and is using power for narrow party interests by misusing the state budget as well. The Assembly, as the highest representative institution of the people, has been left at the mercy of Vetevendosje's political calculations, while there is no accountability and institutional accountability”.
“Alance for the Future of Kosovo has the attitude that this failure to function institutions is a serious threat to democracy and the country's future. We will continue to be the voice of the citizens and will fight without compromise to restore the institutional integrity and functionality of our institutions based on law and the country's constitutional”.
The AAK says that the “Locking of international relations, caused by the current government's confrontational and insulting approach, is seriously damaging Kosovo's position on the international stage and prospects for advancing Euro-Atlantic integration processes”.
The Vetevendosje requirement for going to municipal and national elections at the same time clearly demonstrates their intention to usurp all institutional power in the country and avoid accountability to citizens and to bring down the democratic will of voters”.
“Call on all opposition parties, civil society and citizens to unite to stop this degradation and protect our fragile democracy. It is time to speak out loud and determined, Kosovo deserves institutions that work for citizens, not for a single party that has sabotaged constitutional order for five years, distorted democratic practices and created an image of an unstable partner partner partner partner state in the EU and the US”, the AAK General Council's political statement said.
