Pure coffee can reduce the risk of death, but less when mixed with sugar and fat.
A study by Tufts University in Boston, U.S.A., shows that drinking 1-2 cups of black coffee per day relates to the lowest risk of death, especially from heart disease, follows the British daily “The Independent”.
The results showed that sugar-free and fat-free coffee reduced the risk by 1450%. But if coffee is mixed with lots of sugar and full fat, the positive effect disappears.
According to the author of the study, Fang Zhang, the benefits come from bioactive coffee components, but harmful additions reduce the effect.
The study examined the data of 46,000 adults from 1999 to 2018 and was published in The Journal of Nutrition.
The authors point out that restriction of sugar and fat is consistent with official guidelines for a healthy diet. /Periscopi
