He underlined the importance of negotiations held in Istanbul on 16 May, which according to him are a new beginning for dialogue between the parties.
Fidan called for organising a summit with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdoğan, US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The goal of this meeting is to reach a long-term ceasefire and create the possibility of a final solution to the conflict.
He also warned the impact of war on European security architecture and relations between Europe and the US, stressing that the greatest cost of conflict is falling on Ukraine. The destroyed cities are Ukrainian, the lives lost are Ukrainian soldiers. This war should be stopped as soon as”, the Turkish minister concluded. /Periscope/
