Tahiri hits Kurti Government: Popular logic, revisionist and sub-EU approach are celebrating Europe Day

AAK official Besnik Tahiri has written for 9 May, Europe Day, criticising that Kosovo is straying from the EU integration path. According to Tahiri, it is ironic that Kosovo celebrates a day when even EU member states do not celebrate, while it is under official European Union sanctions. [...]

He has said the irony becomes even greater when May 9th is celebrated by a populist and revisionist rational government, which has exclusive access and in opposition to politics.
The <x0roni becomes even bigger than the fact that today, when celebrated 9 May, the government, with a populist logic and a revisionist vision, with chaotic and political willingness to exclude, contrary to the Constitution, offends and violates law and procedure, imposing autocratic access to the Convention Constitution. This is authoritarian behaviour that has nothing in common with democracy, law and fair process”, he wrote

May 9th and the Iron of a Street Destro!
Today Kosovo marks May 9th, known as Europe Day. On May 9, 1950, Robert Schuman, then France's minister of foreign affairs through a historic statement, proposed a co-operation treaty with Germany. As modest as that initiative was in the context of post-World War II, it was far from being a popular idea. The European Union has not always been what we know today - sweeping, complex, and important. It was the imagination, vision and political creativity that founded and defeated the EU we know today.
To me, there are three ironic moments I want to highlight on this day:
1. Kosovo marks this day, though many EU member states do not have it as an official holiday. It is ironic that we celebrate the achievements of those who themselves do not celebrate. However, this date remained important for us, because after declaring independence, Kosovo's political elite embraced it with enthusiasm and vision the quick journey towards European integration, something that is now being questioned by both sides!
2. How can Kosovo, as the most pro-Western country in the region and dedicated to EU values, still remain under sanctions and punishment measures from the EU itself, while Serbia, which is opening up ties with Russia and refuses sanctions, continues to be handled with respect and consideration from the European Union? This is a political hypocrisy that undermines confidence in the EU's own justice and consistency and makes the concept it represents ironic.
3. The irony becomes even greater from the fact that today, when celebrated 9 May, the government, with a populist logic and a revisionist vision, with chaotic and political willingness to rule against the Constitution, offends and violates law and procedure, imposing autocratic access to the constitution's constitution. This is authoritarian behaviour that has nothing in common with democracy, law and the right process.
For me it is clear that, if our goal is the European Union, the Council of Europe and democracy as the political system, then two sides should change: our political elite should give up this approach, as well as the European Union, from double standards in the enlargement and integration process.
