Rama said that at the meeting, they discussed the road process towards Albania's membership in the European Union, where sixteen chapters have been opened so far and eight more will be opened in the coming days.
The joint “Plan with the European Union is to manage to close negotiations on the bow of three years from 2024 to 2027. It is an ambitious plan and an extraordinary opportunity for us, as stars are listed today as never before, and the European Union is very eager to accept its members based on merit and outcome. The other aspect we discussed is progress in the region, this is related to why the European Union is willing to accept other members and I want to take advantage of the case, this will be part of the discussion that I invite all of the region's colleagues not to miss this moment that history has brought to our door”, Rama said.
European Council President Antonio Costa, a word of his, had a message for Albanian citizens regarding membership in the large European family.
However, it all depends on your performance if you follow up at the same pace and I'm sure that with this strong message I have for Albanian citizens and for you and your team, that in the coming months, I'm sure you'll do a great job and next year when I visit I'm sure we won't have to answer the same question. That's what I'd like to hear, that Albania will soon become a member of”, Costa has said.
European Council President Antonio Costa is on a visit to Tirana under the tour of Balkan countries, where he stayed on Wednesday in Kosovo. It will take part in the European Political Community summit, to be held in Tirana on Friday.
More than 40 European leaders attend the next sixth summit, and this is the first time such a meeting is organised in Albania.
The summit's official agenda envisions the launch of the opening ceremony at 11: 00 p.m., followed by 45 minutes from the first plenary session, where leaders will discuss security and common vision for Europe's future.
The European Political Community was created as a common political platform to strengthen co-operation and stability in Europe. /Periscope/
