Prizren prosecutor seeks detention for four arrested over drug laboratory

The Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren, in co-operation with the Kosovo Police, the Unit for Investigation into Narcotics Trafficking ? Gjakova, has conducted an operation after a several-month investigation, implementing separate investigative measures, leading to the arrest of four suspected persons related to a drug laboratory discovered on April 23rd 2025. The detainees are accused of cultivating the plant “Canabis Sveva” in sophisticated conditions within a closed object, using special equipment for plant lighting and heating, and pesticides for cultivation. They are suspected of cultivating 175 cannabis plants, which they dried and prepared for sale. This act constitutes a violation of the law, namely, the criminal offence of “Narcotic plant cultivation” under Article 272 of the Kosovo Criminal Code (KPRK).
One of the defendants is also accused of buying, possessing and distributing narcotics. During the search done in his home and car in Fushe Kosovo, alleged narcotic substances such as cocaine and marijuana, digital scales, and a considerable amount of money were found and seized.
Also, one of the detainees is suspected of providing his assets for covering illegal activities, enabling him to accommodate and care for narcotics plants.
The prosecution has filed a request for the detention measure for the four detainees and has issued orders to sequentine two residential facilities linked to illegal activities. Chief Prosecutor Petrit Kryeziu has announced he will apply for final halting order for these assets.
