Netanyah: We killed Hamas' leader in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared before parliament Wednesday that Mohammed Sinwar, one of Hamas' leading figures in the Gaza Strip and the youngest brother of slain leader Yahya Sinwar, is “eliminated” in a military operation. In his speech, Netanyahu included Mohammed Sinwar's name on the list of Hamas' leaders killed during the recent Israeli air offensives, however, until now no official confirmation has been provided by the Israeli Defence Forces.
Sources from the IDF, quoted by the Jerusalem Post, said that Sinwar's body was allegedly found along with about 12 of his assistants, including the commander of Rafah Brigade, Mohammed Shabanah, known as one of his potential followers.
Mohammed Sinwar was considered one of the most wanted figures by Israeli authorities. He was part of Hamas' close circle of leadership in Gaza and had an active role in the group's military structure. Netanyahu's statement comes weeks after defence minister Israel Katz's reports, which had warned that a growing number of <x0) evidence” existed showing that Sinwar could have been killed.
Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed's older brother, was killed by Israeli troops last year. It was considered “the” body of Hamas' attacks on Israel on 7 October 2023 and had taken over the group's general command following Ismail Haneyeh's assassination, also in an alleged Israeli air strike in Iran.
Israeli officials have not yet provided details on the operation, allegedly leading to the elimination of Mohammed Sinwar, while final confirmation of his death is expected by military authorities.
