Macro's first official visit to Vietnam, the first by a French president in nearly a decade, follows US President Donald Trump's threats Friday to impose 50% tariffs on European Union goods from June 1st, fuelling tensions with the 27-nation bloc, although he later postponed that deadline until July 9th, Reuters writes, broadcasting Periscope.

Macron said France signed contracts worth 9 billion euros in Vietnam during his visit.
The agreements covered the purchase of 20 Airbus aircraft, co-operation in nuclear energy, defence, railway and sea transport, land surveillance satellites Airbus and Sanofi (SASY.PA) vaccines.
