Former General of KLA, Sami Lushtaku during an interview in “Reel Talk with Maxhun”, has told rare war stories, writes Periscope.
While talking about the moment of NATO intervention, Lushtaku has indicated that after the agreement was signed in Rambouille he immediately received a message from Hashim Thaci.
I remember because Hashimi has been in France and says the deal has happened, tell all the soldiers to be careful because NATO intelligence is beginning. I and the members of the NLA had barely believed it, we were preparing for this war to be much longer, but when it happened I was with Sylen with a part of the soldiers and the special unit was with us and it was very happy news because we knew the war was ending. To be honest, we have expected Serbia to surrender much faster, but it lasted 78 days and were the greatest KLA losses during that period because Serb forces came out of control, and their goal was to kill Albanians regardless of whether they were members of the KLA or citizens of this country”, Lushtaku said.
Asked about the first emotions after the war ended, Lushtaku said that for KLA members today, feelings are mixed.
It's been difficult for us, it hasn't been easy when we're meeting the families of the martyrs, when we're meeting the families who had given many members. I remember when we broke into Adam Yasar's house it was something extraordinary, it was very difficult for us to meet every family. It's a matter of words because it's been difficult. It was joy, but for a part of the KLA members, even the day we were relieved today, the emotions are mixed”, Lushtaku concluded.
