British Ambassador to Kosovo Jonathan Hargrees has reacted following recent threats to President Vjosa Osmani.
In a Facebook post, he has expressed concern over these threats and, as said the growing wave of hate speech towards women.
I am deeply concerned by recent threats and the rising wave of hate speech towards women, especially those in leading roles. Gender-based violence involving online violence has no place in our society. We stay with the Gender Security Group and fully support their common statement. In times like these, silence is not an option. We choose solidarity”.
“Sic said Jess Phillips, the United Kingdom Minister for Defence and Violence to Women and Girls, “This will not change unless we make it systematic for anyone who ever faces a victim or an author of violence, to think of it as his main duty to do something about this”, Hargrees wrote.
In this response, the British diplomat in Kosovo has distributed a statement UN Women Kosovo, Security and Gender Equality Group on threats to President Vjosa Osmani and the urgent need to address violence against women in politics, Klankosova broadcasts.tv.
The head of state was again threatened with life Monday through the official address of the Kosovo Presidency, for the second time within a short period of time./Periscopi/
