The report was released Thursday by the Multilateral Sanction Monitoring Team (MSMT), an initiative consisting of 11 UN members formed after Russia forced the dissolution of an earlier UN panel monitoring implementation of sanctions against North Korea, writes CNN, broadcast Periscope.
While some of the team's findings are well documented as sending troops from North Korea to fight for Russia, the report represents the extent and scale of the weapons sent by gyan since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
This includes up to 9 million artillery and ammunition rounds in 2024; more than 11,000 troops last year; and 3,000 other troops in the first months of this year; rocket launchers, vehicles, self-moving weapons and other types of heavy artillery; and at least 100 ballistic missiles “, which were later launched in Ukraine to destroy civilian infrastructure and terrorise areas such as Kiev and Zaporizha<1>, the report says.
“These forms of illegal co-operation between (North core) and Russia contributed to Moscow's ability to step up its missile attacks against the cities of Ukraine, including attacks aimed at critical civilian infrastructure”, it said on the report.
In exchange, Russia gave North Korea valuable parts of weapons and technology, including air defence equipment, antiaircraft missiles, electronic warfare systems and refined oil. /Periscope.
