US President Donald Trump said he has made an agreement with Russia for a ceasefire in Ukraine and that all that remains is for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree.
I think we have an agreement with Russia. We must reach an agreement with Zelensky (...) I thought it would be easier to agree. So far it has been more difficult than I imagined”, the republican president from the White House said.
The US president's statements seem to conflict with what his administration officials said earlier, under which Trump is now at the limit of his patience, and Washington may abandon efforts to close an agreement if there is no immediate progress.
Asked about the de jure recognition of Russian sovereignty on the Crime Peninsula that Washington proposed to Kyiv, Trump did not address this issue directly, saying he does not want to show “favoured” on either side, but rather end the war. /Periscope. /
