Trump closes another aid agency, Kosovo could lose over $200m?

Efficiency Department of the U.S. government (DOGE) of Elon Musk will end the work of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which was launched as an American aid agency by former Republican President George W. Bush to reduce poverty and promote economic growth worldwide, according to a recording of the meeting [...]
This movement to close the MMC comes as part of an unprecedented effort by President Donald Trump and his billionaire Musk adviser to reduce the federal government, saying American taxpayers' money has been spent by mistake.
The foreign assistance is not a priority for administration and therefore the MCC work should be completed”, Kieh Kim, a senior MCC official, told staff.
Officials from DOGE arrived at the agency early last week and began talks with leadership who were trying to save the agency, Kim said.
The MCC did not respond to a Reuters email for comment.
This move by DOGE jeopardises over 200m euros for Kosovo.
The US Government Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Government of Kosovo last year launched implementation of the compact programme, which was focused on providing solutions to clean energy.
The program was worth $226.7 million. Of this value, 202 million were from the MCC and another 34.7 million contributions to the Government of Kosovo.
The Trump administration has already dismantled Washington's main aid agency, USAID, which administered about $40 billion in aid annually.
