Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Aracchi, and Trump's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whitf, held talks in Muscat through Ottoman mediators for about six hours, a week after a second round in Rome that both sides described as constructive, writes ReutersPeriscope broadcast.
Oman's Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaid, said the talks will continue next week, with another “high-level meeting” planned in advance for 3 May.
Ahead of the meeting of key negotiators, expert indirect talks were held in Muscat to draft a framework for a possible nuclear agreement.
“expert negotiations at the level have reached the stage of detailed specifications and bilateral requirements, delegations are returning to their capitals for consultations”, state television said.
An Iranian official, informed about the talks, told Reuters earlier that the expert-level negotiations were the difficult, complicated and serious”, without providing details.
Trump has passed the beginning of his second term in office, trying to mediate agreements on some of the biggest conflicts and crises in the world, including the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the Israeli attack on Gaza and the issue of Iran's nuclear programme. /Periscopi/
