Geoffrey Roberts, Rexhep Selimi's lawyer, has declared he hopes he will change the question of the regime of visits to custody now that the prosecution case has ended, in the case of Thaci and others.
In an interview for Klan Kosovo, he has confirmed that at this stage in question, they will propose changing circumstances that could change the detention phase.
The question of the visiting regime for Mr. Selimi is very important as to us as to Mr. Selimi, family and friends who visit him and is something we hope to change by the end of the prosecution case. This is something that belongs to the Judicial Chamber to decide, and certainly with the outcome of the case on the part of the prosecution and the fact that there are no witnesses of the prosecution, we will propose changing circumstances that would potentially lead to the change of regime in custody, but this belongs to the panel to place”, Roberts said, broadcast Periscope.
He has also indicated the likelihood of Selim's parole, adding that when the prosecution case is concluded, they will be able to know the likelihood of the case.
This is a similar question. We consider that it has now been two years since the beginning of the prosecution case, we have heard all the evidence and witnesses in the courtroom. Again, we have other documents that the prosecution is aiming to accept, but under these circumstances, the other tribunals have allowed individuals to be released on bail or temporarily in certain phases of the process. This is one of those stages when such a request could be submitted”.
We don't expect the Victims Protector to take too long to present their case, maybe a few months, maybe less, it's hard to know. We hope to have a status conference in the near future, and after the end of the prosecution case, we will be able to set the timetable for what happens next to the victims and potentially the case of defence. And at that stage we'll be able to know whether temporary release will be possible or not”, Roberts said. /Periscopi/
