Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP Lahi Brahimaj, on a show of “Real Talk with Maxhun”, broadcast in Periscop and T7, speaking of the last session of the Parliament, where the chairman of the country NISMA said the way should be opened by the first party to elect the Parliament's organs, said Limaj has realised Albin Kurti does not keep his word.
It's true I heard it, but Mr. Limaj, in all previous sessions, spoke a little differently. Likely, what he said yesterday relates to the fact that the last meeting did not end well and apparently, he realized that Albin Kurti is not keeping his word”.
He stressed that the demand for a consensual name has also been made clear by Ramush Haradinaj and the rest of the opposition.
“If the incumbent prime minister does not have 61 votes, he should negotiate with other parties and find a more together, not divisive figure”, he said.
According to him, although the Constitution recognises the right to the first party to propose the Speaker of the Parliament, the requirement is that the name be not only in the service of a party, but have a broader support.
No one is asking the name to come from another party. We are demanding that the candidate be acceptable to more than a political grouping, so that the responsibility for delays will not fall on the opposition, but on the first party”, he said.
Referring to past political developments, he recalled that on no side of the elections Vetevendosje has voted the majority candidate for Parliament Speaker.
When Kadri Veseli was chosen, Albin Kurti went to the speaker and said: ) Chu Kadri matu, you don't have the numbers. Today, it's the same situation”, Brahimaj said.
According to him, it is the winning party's duty to secure the necessary support for its candidate.
“If it does not have 61 votes, it should negotiate and propose a name of compromise. As an alternative, Mr Haradinaj has offered two names that could be discussed”, he said. /Periscope/
