The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) estimates that with the unanimous approval of the Commission's report on Mandas Verification and swearing by MPs, an important step has been made towards the completion of the Kosovo Assembly Constituent session.
“Although the report does not include formal resignations, the verbal statements of the prime minister and the ministers in office are included in the process, which were used as the basis for overcoming the situation -- a politically controversial but legally unclear solution. However, the election of Speaker of the Assembly opened the most crucial step in the constitution was not realised. The candidate proposed by the Vetevendosje Movement did not get enough votes, and the session was suspended”.
KDI calls for all MPs, regardless of political affiliation, to contribute to the successful closure of this constitutional session.
However, we stress that the main responsibility falls on the biggest subject in the Parliament, the Vetevendosje Movement, which is tasked with leading the process and doing everything required, including discussions and political compromises, to ensure a majority for the election of the Speaker of the Parliament. Further exhumation of this process not only undermines the functioning of institutions but risks further deepening the political and institutional crisis”, writes by KDI, broadcasts Periscope.
KDI recalls that functioning of the Parliament is a prerequisite for all other democratic developments in the country, including forming the Government.
