On its first visit to the region as chief of European diplomacy, Kallas will stay in Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The EU announced that on the first day of its tour, the top European official in Montenegro will meet with President Jakov Milatovic and Prime Minister Milojko Spajic. She will also meet civil society representatives, Rel reports Periscope.
Montenegro is the state that has advanced mostly in the region on its path to EU membership.
On April 8th, in Albania Kallas will have meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama. With the latter, it will also hold a joint media conference.
In Albania, the chief of European diplomacy will also meet with Minister for Europe and European Affairs Igli Hasani, and with defence, Pirro Ving.
It will take part in the first meeting of the EU-Albania Security and Protection Dialogue with ministers Hasani and Ving. Also, Kallas will participate in the signing ceremony of the grant from the European Investment Bank and loan arrangements for the Durres-Rrogozhin Railway”, the report said.
In the final stop of the visit to the Western Balkans, Kallas will stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he will hold meetings with leaders of the tripartite Presidency, with the chairman of the Council of Ministers and with Bosnia's Foreign Minister and with representatives of the European Force in Bosnia, EUFOR.
During hearings to confirm it in the post of EU diplomatic chief, Kallas had promised that it would work for EU enlargement to become a reality.
All six Western Balkan countries, except Kosovo, as well as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Turkey, are EU membership candidates.
Kosovo has applied for membership in the European bloc, but its application has not yet been reviewed. / REL/
