At the time of the club fire, there were 500 people and 250 tickets were sold.
An eyewitness from the scene of Vlatko Zdravkov told Deutsche Welle that “Cani is a dead town” and that the city will not recover from the tragedy of generations.
It was terrible, 100 were lying there, caught those who had pulses, saved them, threw them into cars, and sent them to the hospital. Those who had no pulse, we pushed aside. Burned, oppressed, drowned, most died of burns, some of the current. These are our children”, he said.
Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Hristian Mickoski called the tragedy in Kocan a “mass murder”.
“We will be merciless to the responsible regardless of who he is, from what nationality he is and which party he is from. That is, I would say, a mass murder that someone allowed for money and bribery, due to corruption”, Mickoski said.
