Ukraine- U.S. to sign: Trump will declare it in the address of Congress

The US and Ukraine are ready to sign the mineral agreement.

Like this Reuters news agency has suggested in an exclusive publication, stressing that American President Donald Trump wants to announce it in Congress's speech today.

According to the publication, the Trump and Ukraine administration plan to sign the much controversial mineral agreement after a catastrophic meeting of the Oval Office on Friday, in which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was expelled from the White House, four people familiar with the situation said on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump has told his advisers he wants to announce the agreement in his speech in Congress on Tuesday evening, three of the sources said, warning that the agreement had not been signed yet and the situation could change.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ukraine's presidential administration in Kiev and the Ukraine Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to the requests for comment.

The deal was suspended Friday after a controversial meeting in the Oval Office between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which resulted in Ukrainian leader's quick departure from the White House. Zelensky had travelled to Washington to sign the agreement.

At that meeting, Trump and Vice President JD Vance reproved Zelensky, telling him that she should thank the US for her support instead of seeking additional assistance in front of American media.

US officials have been talking to officials in Kiev in recent days about signing the mineral agreement, despite Friday's explosion, and urged Zelensky's advisers to persuade Ukrainian President to openly apologise to Trump, according to one of the people familiar with the issue.

Zelensky posted to the X earlier that Ukraine was ready to sign the agreement and called the Ovale Office's meeting “to regret”.

Our “Meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go as it should be”, Zelensky wrote in his post. “Ukrainian is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace” closer.

It was unclear if the deal had changed. The agreement, which was to be signed last week, did not include clear security guarantees for Ukraine, but gave the United States access to revenues from Ukraine's natural resources.

It also predicted that the Ukrainian government would contribute 50% of the future money of any state natural resource to an investment fund managed by the US-Ukraine binomi.

On Monday, Trump signalled that his administration remained open to signing the agreement, telling reporters that Ukraine “should be more grateful”.
