The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has held the next meeting today, where it announced the final results of the February 9th elections.
CEC Chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi clarified the reasons for delays in announcing these results, broadcasts Periscope.
Radonic stressed that one of the main reasons for the delays concerns implementing numerous legal changes.
He also announced that delays have also been caused by the problem with the electronic platform of results.
“Vones for announcing final results are for several reasons. One of the reasons concerns implementing numerous legal changes, which have added tasks for the CEC. The other reason is directly connected to the electronic platform of results. Problems with presenting preliminary results to political subjects have forced us to increase control of activities even at the Community Counting Centre during the count of candidates for MPs. So, prior to the publication of each result we've had to do our verifications by comparing statistics with complete formats during the count, and this has certainly taken time until the results are presented and extended the” process, Radoniqi said.
He also stressed that, despite technical problems, the announced results today have followed the initial steps in the Law for General Elections and Sublawing Acts, guaranteeing full transparency.
We recall that problems with showing preliminary results for political subjects have had no effect on the outcome of the election process, as publishing these results only occur when the number of ballot papers ends. So the result was listed on political subject forms and these forms, according to procedures, are also given to representatives of political subjects and observers present at the poll. Despite these problems, the results we will announce today have followed the initial steps in the General Election Law and Sublawic Act, as well as in the terms of full transparency. As the Central Election Commission, we've been unique in response to the situation created, and we're all engaged in creating problems. We are grateful to all political subjects for the consensus expressed for the situation created”, he stresses.
