Experts say the notorious hacker team is working nearly 24 hours a day potentially pouring money into the regime's military development, reports the BBC.
Each minute is important to hackers trying to confuse money trails and they are extremely sophisticated in what they're doing”, says Dr Tom Robinson, cofounder of the Elliptic cryptic investigative.
Of all the criminal actors involved in crypto, North Korea is best at clearing cryptos, says Dr Robinson.
I imagine they have an entire room that does this using automated tools and years of experience. We can also see from their activity that they take only a few hours off every day, perhaps working shifts to turn Krypton into money. ”
Elliptic's analysis coincides with ByBit, which says 20% of the funds are currently “rated”, which means there is no chance of ever being recovered.
The US and Allies accuse North Koreans of committing dozens of retaliation in recent years to finance the regime's military and nuclear development.
On February 21st, criminals hacked one of the ByB's suppliers to secretly change the address of the digital portfolio to which 401,000 salt currency Ethereum was being sent.
ByBit thought he was transferring the funds to his digital portfolio, but instead sent it to all hackers.
