Former Kosovo President Behgjet Pacolli has managed to secure Kosovo's recognition of independence from the African Republic of Kenya. This formalised recognition on March 26th has also marked the unblocking of a long five-year period of Kosovo without gaining new recognition of independence, follows Periscope.
Although this recognition has become known at noon on March 26th, Kosovo's Foreign Affairs Ministry has still updated the list of states that have recognised Kosovo even with the Republic of Kenya.
On the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is run by Donika Grevalla-Schwarz, the last recognition it finds is that of the state of Israel that was reached after former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti had signed the Washington agreement.
Kenya's recognition of independence has prompted the strong reaction of the Serbian state. The Serbian ambassador to the Republic of Kenya has immediately conducted a meeting with Kenya's Foreign Ministry officials to protest the decision to recognise the Republic of Kosovo.
