“Reform in Justice is irreversible”! It is this message of European Union Ambassador to Tirana Silvio Gonzato, who highlights the importance of independence and the integrity of magistrates.
Ambassador Gonzato said the European Union has supported the Veting process from the start and will continue to do so until its completion.
“Trust is a belief that must be constantly fed. He cannot be considered given. This means that, while reform in justice is irreversible, implementation requires our constant attention and support. Ensuring the independence and integrity of judges is a task and a permanent effort”, he said.
For the European Union's top diplomat in Albania “responsibility and independence are central to any democratic society governed by the rule of law”. Ambassador Gonzato made these messages at a table organised by the Netherlands Embassy in Tirana and the Albanian Helsinki Committee, which stressed that EU support for justice will continue in Albania.
