According to the Central Election Commission, so far 365,166 requests have been recorded, while over 234 thousand have been processed. Currently, 18,000 applications are still under way. Given the previous election turnout, the diaspora vote is expected to represent about 15% of the total electorate.
Interesting fact from the diaspora registration process:
- The first application was made by Germany, only 8 minutes after the system opened.
- Germany's 98-year-old is the oldest registered voter.
- An Albanian national has applied 25 times to register as voters from abroad, successfully in the latest effort.
Registering parties and coalitions in the CEC:
- 53 parties are registered for parliamentary elections.
- The number of registered coalitions is 3.
- The movement Together is the only party that has handed over the candidate list for MPs.
The deadline for handing over candidate lists expires on 12 March, while key political subjects are expected to announce their names in the coming days.
