Ukraine will have a very, very difficult “to survive without the United States military support in its fight against Russia's invasion, Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky said in an interview aired on February 14th.

“Maybe it will be very, very, very difficult. But, of course, even in all of the difficult situations, you always have a option”, Zelensky said about NBC News.

However, we will have little chance of surviving without the support of the United States”, Zelensky added, who drinks to give a speech Saturday at the Munich Security Conference.

He also stressed that Ukraine has increased weapons production, but not enough to cover up what it would lose if the United States no longer has its support.

Zelensky participated in a day of meetings and press conferences at the Munich Security Conference on February 14th, at a time when efforts to find a solution to the war in Ukraine are increasing.

He will be in the spotlight after meeting with senior American officials, including Vice President JD Vance, who in his speech at the conference on February 14th stressed the need for “stable and long-term” in Ukraine.

Zelensky told Vice President Vance that Ukraine wants “security fund” from Washington before starting talks with Russia to end the almost three-year war.

In the interview, Zelensky said he does not want to think about the possibility that Ukraine will not be a strategic partner of the United States, as this would harm Ukraine's morale, but added: “We should think about this”.

The United States has sent mixed signals to their strategy, prompting concerns in Kiev that Ukraine may be forced to accept a bad deal that would give Putin courage.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth told NATO defence ministers earlier this week that he is <x0-humanisticist” to expect Ukraine's borders to return to the pre- 2014 situation and added that the White House does not see Ukraine's membership in NATO as part of the conflict settlement.

Ukraine wants Russia to withdraw from occupied territories and says it must join NATO or receive guarantees for its security to prevent another attack by Moscow.

Speaking in Warsaw on February 14th, Hegseth again warned that US European partners in NATO would have to do much more for their defence and to ensure peace for Ukraine in the future.

He also argued that it is not necessary to believe “to President Vladimir Putin to negotiate with Russia.

Two days ago, US President Donald Trump said he developed a long and very productive “call with Putin and that he agreed with them to start negotiations immediately.

Zelensky responded by saying he would not accept any agreements made without Ukraine's involvement.

Asked in the interview if you believe Ukraine would be vulnerable after several years if a ceasefire was reached, Zelensky said: “Yes, I think this could happen”.

He said Putin wants to sit at the negotiating table not to end the war, but to reach a ceasefire agreement that would ease some sanctions against Russia and enable Moscow's army to regroup.

This is what he really wants. He wants pauses, preparations, exercises, lifting certain sanctions, due to the 148x1> ceasefire, Zelensky said.

Vance, who represents the Trump at this high-level rally of world leaders and foreign policy experts, said the United States wants <x0th of a kind of peace that will not lead to a new conflict in Eastern Europe after several years”.

There have been a number of good “talks with Ukraine, and others will follow “in the coming days, weeks and months”, Vance said.

Zelensky agreed, calling the meeting with Vance as the “good talks” and said Kiev wants to work to end Russia's war in Ukraine, but added that “na needs real security guarantees”. / REL/
