The two leaders will start their meeting by participating in a virtual meeting with the other leaders of the world's seventh most industrialized group (G7), where they will discuss the war in Ukraine that marks today's third anniversary.
Later, they are expected to hold a media conference.
Macro is the first European leader to visit Trump after he took power last month. Later in the week, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to stay in the US, while Europe is alarmed at Trump's stance over Ukraine and with efforts to restore reports with Moscow after three years of conflict in Ukraine.
Macron and Starmer are expected to try to persuade Trump not to rush into reaching a ceasefire agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, at any cost, to keep Europe involved in the process and discuss military guarantees for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Trump and his team are negotiating a deal with Ukraine for minerals, as the US wants to recover some of the money the preliminary administration has sent to Kiev in the form of weapons.
Trump said over the weekend that he believes an agreement on this thing can be reached very soon.
Earlier last week, Macro stated that during the meeting with Trump at the White House, he will tell American leaders not to show “dubes before Putin”. He said showing weakness would send a message to China and Iran, meanwhile a bad deal with Russia, according to Macroni, would imply the surrender of Ukraine. /Radio Europe Free
