Trump has presented the programme at the White House, saying buying this document will begin within two weeks.
“have green permission [gree card], this is gold. We're going to set a price on $5 million”, Trump said.
Inflows from sales will be used to lower the” deficit, Trump said.
The programme will be for the rich “people” who can open jobs, the president has said.
For rich and successful people, those who will spend a lot of money and pay taxes and employ many people, and I think we'll be extremely successful”, Trump said.
The ones applying for this type of residence permit will be analysed in the shed.
“I know some Russian oligarchs who are good people. It's possible”, Trump said.
They're not as rich as they used to be, but I think they can afford five million dollars”.
US Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick has told reporters that the “Golden Visual Trump” will replace the EB-5 immigration programme, which was created by Congress in 1990 to generate foreign investments.
EB-5 visas are available for persons who spend about $1m in a company and employ at least 10 people.
Lutnick has said that the new visa will increase the price to 5 million and avoid fraud committed with the EB-5 programme.
A survey published by Congress in 2023 showed that many observers have concerns about fraud committed with the EB-5 programme.
They have said concessions are made when applicants do not report income, identity, or fail to make investments.
More than half of the EB-5 visas in 2022 have been divided to China's citizens.
Trump has estimated that the US will be able to sell about a million golden visas. /rel/
