Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama through a Facebook post has called on diaspora Albanians to register to vote in the May 11th elections, when 22 days remain due to the deadline.
May “11th will be a historic decision to the fact that for the first time, the Albanians of Europe and around the world will vote from outside borders, from where they are in the mail. But who will become part of this new story about our democracy must be recorded by 4 March. Because voting is done by mail and time to take the ballot sheet home with every elector with a prepaid envelope even for return is a necessary time”, Rama says.
Albania's government chief says that so far the number of registered people on the CEC page is promising, but according to Rama “should still be much larger”.
Rama emphasises that the vote of any immigrant living abroad is valid as it defines Albania's future, which, according to him in the 4th term of the SP, will take final steps for EU membership.
The word of every Albanian outside the borders is valid. The vote of anyone who sees the progress of our common Albania from a reasonable distance is valid. And I look forward to seeing what the judgment of the Albanians of Europe and the world will be for Albania, released from the shadow of everyday prejudices. Record, register, register, and do not leave it for the last day, when the CEC page can be loaded and then made more difficult. It's quite simple, by the computer, or by the phone, for a few minutes to become part of a historic moment on the road to our democracy”, the prime minister highlights. /A2
