More than 250,000 Canadian citizens and residents have signed a petition demanding that Elon Musk be stripped of Canadian citizenship.
Moose's connection to American President Donald Trump, who plans to impose a 25 per cent fee for all Canadian imports next month and who has spoken of Canada as the 51st state of America, “is against the national interests of Canada”, say those who have initiated the petition.
This billionaire of technology, citizen of South Africa, Canada and the United States, has become one of Trump's most visible allies since the 47th president began his second term last month.
He used his wealth and power to influence our choices. Now it has become part of a foreign government that is trying to wipe out Canadian sovereignty”, say those who signed the petition.

In response to the petition news, Musk wrote on the social X network that “Canada is not a real state”.
A legal expert explained to CNN that the Canadian government cannot revote citizenship legally acquired by Musk, but the petition author says the petition should be understood as a “call for responsibility”.
Musk, who was born in South Africa, said earlier that he received Canadian passport as a teenager from his mother, Maiye Mousk, who was born in Canada.
The billionaire later obtained American citizenship, a decade after arriving in the United States with a student visa. /Telegraph
