(a year ago)The European Union for Rule of Law in Kosovo mission EULEX has confirmed RTV21 that it was present during the raid by Serbian Centres for Social Affairs in the country's north. In response, however, it is said that this mission is not conducting any kind of criminal investigation. “We confirm EULEX was present in the capacity of [...]
“We confirm that EULEX was present in its monitoring capacity during the operation, mentioned as part of its powerful monitoring role. However, it should be clear that since the adoption of our mandate in 2018, the mission did not conduct any kind of criminal investigation”.
But, EULEX has indicated that if there are any serious shortcomings during the raid and closure of Serbian Centres for Social Work, they will be addressed.
If through our monitoring activities of Kosovo institutions for rule of law, serious shortcomings are found, we address those responsible, strengthen accountability and develop recommendations and advice for institutions in question. After the raids you refer to have been authorized by orders issued by the presiding judge of the Constitutional Court of Mitrovica, which has agreed to the Constitutional Prosecutor's request, please refer to the latter for additional information”. /rtv21
