The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has announced that on Wednesday the number of votes coming from diplomatic representatives, where the election process was conducted physically by the diaspora on February 8th 2025.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi indicated it was about more than 15 thousand ballots from this process.
He added that in the coming days, counting on bail, votes of persons with special needs and votes coming from outside Kosovo are expected to begin.
During the media conference at the Counting and Results Centre, Elez stressed that scanning the list of eligible voters is necessary before the start of the bail vote.
“The scan helps us to make sure that no one has voted twice, both at regular and conditional locations. After this process is completed, the number of votes on bail could begin, votes of persons with special needs and those from voting outside Kosovo”, Elez said.
Another said it is working for final results to be announced as soon as possible, even before the planned deadline.
In past elections, the CEC has taken about 18 days from election day to announce its final results. For this election process, the announcement is scheduled to take place as far as March 5th 2025, while certificates by March 18th”, he said.
Regarding the vote from outside Kosovo, Elez indicated that out of about 69 thousand packages of accepted balloting, about 63 thousand have been approved, while about 4,900 have been rejected.
“Pacots have been rejected for several reasons, like sending from persons who were cancelled during the voter registration outside Kosovo, lack of registration policy, sending the same package more than once, or including more than a ballot in a box”, he explained.
According to CEC data, out of 104,924 registered citizens to vote from abroad, 84,600 had chosen to vote through mail and 20,324 in diplomatic representations.
Diplomatic representatives have voted 15,352 citizens, while through mail an estimated 69 thousand packages of balloting have been accepted.
