A video has been published showing members of the United States National Guard and Washington police officers arresting Rahmanullah Lacanwal.
Afghan had earlier killed two members of the National Guard in downtown Washington, just a few blocks from the White House.
The video shows Lacanwalk resisting arrest, and police officers were forced to use considerable force to subdue it.
Department of National Security (DHS) said that LacanWal entered the United States in 2021 as part of the “Operation programme Welcome to Allie”, which was designed to accommodate Afghans who helped American forces during the war and could face revenge after the U.S. withdrawal and return of the ruling Taliban.
According to information provided by a former anonymous official in the administration Donald Trump, LacanWal applied for asylum in December 2024 and was given April 23rd of this year, three months after Trump took office as president. Authorities say the attacker had no criminal record and lived in Washington state.
Donald Trump has announced that his administration will recheck all Afghans who arrived in the United States during Joe Biden's mandate. /Periscopi/
