Albania's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, said the court process in The Hague to former KLA leaders is risking turning into historical injustice and distorting the truths of Kosovo's war. She stressed that <x0vikim cannot unjustly transform into aggressor and aggressor to victim”.
The minister made these comments during Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani's visit to Shkodra, within the celebration of November 28th.
“Albania on this November 28th stands clear in your arms, and today the trial at The Hague not only against former KLA leaders, but a trial that appears to be emerging in the Kosovo war itself, cannot turn into a historic injustice, and the victim cannot be unjustly transformed into aggressors and aggressors into victims of”, she said.
During her speech, Spiropali underlined Albania's support for Kosovo and the importance of co-operation between the two countries, detailing in detail the relations built over the years.
According to her, the two governments have managed to transform the border from a historic split into a stable bridge of co-operation.
The two countries, both of us, based on policymaking on the reality of a land, the people of a dream and common desires, have transformed our border from a partition on a bridge of co-operation. Since the joint meeting of our two governments in Prizren in 2014, 180 agreements have institutionalised our co-operation in every area, but it's not enough, we need to do more to get closer to all views and materialise these relations”, she said.
She stressed that Albania and Kosovo should move together towards European integration, seeing this 28 November as a mutual pledge.
Therefore our pledge on November 28th is to turn our flag into the 28th flag that waves proud in Brussels, for us, for Kosovo as soon as it takes to start membership negotiations where our two flags, both states but in fact one nation, are there on that table at that family we belong to, said.
