Through a media communiqué, this union says that the government's action, which today indicated that it will separate tools from the savings category, has been necessary for institution stability and the preservation of RTK's mission as public broadcaster.
“RTK continues to operate without Bord, without Director General, and with key positions unmet, including the editor-in-chief. This situation calls for urgent action by the new Kosovo Assembly legislature, the completion of the Board, the election of the General Director, the appointment of the Chief Editor, as well as the growth of the budget, the necessary and non-negotiable wage growth, the adoption of the new law and the settlement of the property issue, and the new subject of RTK”, is said further in the communique.
The “Union is also due to welcome and thank the government and prime minister in office for reflecting on Union requirements and for taking steps that led to unblocking the budget situation. The move has been necessary for the institution's stability and for the preservation of RTK's mission as public broadcaster”.
However, the RTK Workers' Union has warned that if they face such situations again during January next year, the strike may be restored immediately and in any form necessary.
“On behalf of RTK workers and public broadcasters, we express our sincere gratitude for the continued support and dedication of everyone who stood by us during this challenging”, the announcement concludes.
