The anniversary of this decision, Haradinaj has remembered it through a Facebook post, naming it a day of special weight.
He recalled that his legal journey began on November 17th 2004, when he was first called by The Hague tribunal, a process that would last until 2012.
“Today I mark a day that always has a special weight for me, the anniversary of my freedom, and the final sealing of the right of our liberation war.
On November 17, 2004, although a freedom fighter on my land, I was first invited by The Hague tribunal. That day marked the start of a long legal journey, which lasted until November 29, 2012. Although I was declared innocent in the first trial, years later I returned to the retrial to prove our truth” again, Haradinaj wrote.
According to him, the act of innocence was not just a personal victory but a victory for the entire liberation war.
Now, 13 years later, I remember that act of innocence as a victory not only for me but for our entire liberation war. My struggle for the truth lasted as long as the freedom struggle lasted, and in both these battles I was victorious.
During each step, in any decision and in any of my actions, I have seen to it that Kosovo brings only victory and honor. I have never moved from this task to war or peace.
I thank all those who didn't lose faith in me and my innocence to be there in all ways! KLA.
