Pope Leo warns conflicts that endanger humanity on their first trip abroad

In his first speech given abroad since the election in May to lead the Church with 1.4 billion believers, Leo, the first pope from the US, said that “ambics and the elections that violate justice and peace” are destabilizing the world.
He told political leaders in Turkey that the world was experiencing a high level of global conflict “, driven by dominant economic and military power strategies”.
“We must not submit in any way to this”, he said in an event with Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan, as they held a private meeting.
“The future of humanity is at risk”, the Pope said.
Speaking to the Pope, Erdogan said he welcomed the pope's “sharp focus on the Palestinian issue and hoped the visit would be useful for mankind at a time of tension and uncertainty.
In September, Leo met with Israeli President Isaac Herzeg at the Vatican and established with him “the tragic” in Gaza.
The first American pope chose Turkey, a mostly Muslim country, as its first destination abroad to mark the 1700th anniversary of an important early Church council, Reuters writes.
