The Association of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK) has held several protests in recent months, both in and out of the country, with the aim of rejecting the judicial process against former KLA leaders in The Hague, whom he considers unfair and politically motivated.
The main protest was held on August 7th in Pristina, where thousands of citizens gathered in the capital's main square with calls for justice and support for the accused. O VL-KLA stressed that the goal of the protest was “to raise its voice against the stain of liberation war and the sacrifice of martyrs”.
Another important protest took place on 17 October in Tirana, where war veterans from Kosovo and supporters from Albania joined in demanding a fair process against former KLA leaders.
The chairman of the Association of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK), Hysni Gucati, has announced that the veterans' upcoming protest will be held in Skopje, following several protests held earlier in various cities. Gucati indicated that this will be the sixth or seventh protest in a row, part of the ongoing action against judicial processes under way against former KLA leaders in The Hague.
We know that we are protesting now and again in different places protests of 6 or 7 in a row, now next in Skopje where we will go vigorously, Gucati told FrontOnline, the Periscope broadcast.
O V L- The KLA has expressed deep disappointment at the decision of Specialised Chambers to set a prepared conference on former President Hashim Thaci just on November 28th, the most marked day of Albanian national history.
“28 November is the day when Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbe raised the flag in Kruje, is Albania's Independence Day, Commander Adem Jashar's birthday and the date of the public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army. For us, this date is identity, sacrifice and pride, said in OVL-KLA response.
The organisation has called this Hague decision an insult to national feelings, saying that choosing this date ignores the historic reality of the people of Kosovo and shows a lack of sensitivity and unilateral approach to our liberation history.
For OVL KLA, holding a court hearing on this date is an insult to our national feelings and a disregard for the historical reality of the people of Kosovo. This unnecessary and meaningless choice only deepens the belief that specialised rooms continue to show a lack of sensitivity and a unilateral approach to our liberation history and to those who led the fight for freedom, the OVL response is said to be OVL- KLA. /Periscopi/
