Agim Veliu publicly asks to be included in the LDK MP list: It is not a privilege but a responsibility to history and citizens

Agim Veliu from the Democratic League of Kosovo has reacted after discussions concerning his involvement as an MP candidate on the LDK list for the 28 December elections.

He expressed thanks to all those who have praised his contribution within the party and have requested “the return of justice and merityocracy” to LDK, news reports.net

Veliu stressed that the expectation of his involvement on the list has had not only this time but also in previous elections.

However, he has continued to serve the party, “despite the unjust and harmful decisions of that time”.

He underlined that involvement in the election list “is not favour or personal privilege”, but a natural responsibility for anyone who has contributed a long time to LDK.

According to him, this is a continuation of the work done with dedication, as well as respect for party history and citizens who have given their trust over the years.

In the end, Veliu stressed that the founders and early LDK contributors should not be overlooked, only to leave space for people who have not been part of this political subject.

Dear Centerers, Members and Admirents

I have seen a widespread debate in the media in recent days, by membership and many LDK activists over representation on the December 28th election list.

I want to thank all those who sincerely and obediently have raised their voices for my contribution and for returning justice and meritocracy within the Democratic League of Kosovo.

True, even in past elections there has been the expectation that I will be part of the list. But despite the unfair and harmful decisions of that time, I have continued to remain where I have always been, in the service of the LDK, citizens and values we have cultivated for more than three decades.

I want to emphasize clearly that involvement on the list is neither a favor nor a personal privilege. For me and everyone who has made a long contribution to the LDK, it's only the responsibility and continuation of the work done with dedication, it's respect to our history and to the citizens who have entrusted us for many years.

The LDK is our common home. It was built with labor, sacrifice and loyalty by people who were there when it was the hardest and who continue to be there today.

Therefore, it is imperative that the door does not open to those who have not been part of the LDK, if it is the reason to leave out those who established it, protected it and kept the party alive for more than 30 years.

Respect for the basis, for the founders and for long-term contributors is not just principle, it is moral and institutional obligation to the LDK, to the membership and to the citizens who trust us.

Despite the arguments of the last few days, I remain committed to the values of the LDK, willing to make my contribution and loyalty to each member who has loved and loves the party as his own home.
