25 years of UCMPM first confrontations in Valley

During 2000 and the first half of 2001, territories of the Presevo municipality, Bujanoc and Medvedja have been the area of armed police confrontations and the Liberation Army for Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc (UÇPMB). Its members have first appeared publicly in late January 2000 in the village of Dobrosin (Buanocian municipality) during the burial of slain Shaqipi brothers, writes KP, broadcast Periscope.
Armed confrontation and incidents have been intensified especially after police withdrawal from control workers in Albanian villages from the municipality of Bujanovac on November 27th 2000.
The retreat was made after UCMPB's attack on police patrol, with what cases three policemen died and five police officers were injured. Over the next six months, more than 100 people, Albanians, Serbs, and army and police were killed, injured or kidnapped.
In early 2001, the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Federation Government formed the Co-ordination Body for Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja.
In an effort to resolve the crisis politically, early in 2001 representatives of power and the Albanian community began negotiations, with the mediation of representatives of the North Atlantic Pact (NATO), United Nations (KB) and the European Organisation for Security and Co-operation (OSBE). The results of these negotiations have been the Yugoslav Army's gradual entry into the Land Safety Zone, at the same time and the deilitarisation and deregulation of UCMPB.
The Earth Security Area has since been officially cancelled. The Federation Convention in 2002 issued the amnesty Law for all UCPM members. /Periscope/
