According to Benden Health, most people sleep on the right side, but it's best to sleep on the left. Experts also suggest that you sleep upside down with a pillow under your knees and warn that sleeping upside down could lead to health problems.
Dr. Cheryl Lythgoe warned that sleeping upside down could damage the spine, joints, and nerves, leading to chronic pain of the neck and back. This position can also increase the risk of respiratory problems because of extra weight in the lungs and other respiratory organs.
“Sleep options that exert excessive pressure on the back, such as the stretching down or bending into the fetus position, can exacerbate physical distress. These positions often lead to inadequate spinal positioning and increased pressure on the neck and lower back, potentially resulting in chronic pain and sleep model disorders”, she said.
On the other hand, sleeping on the left is considered the healthiest because it improves the digestive and circulation of blood.
