During these days, the number of patients seeking medical help in the Family Medicine Centers has increased because of seasonal flu. Among them are many children who, according to doctors, mostly come with complaints about high temperatures, fever, throat frying, and dry coughs.
In recent weeks, many children have been affected by seasons, respectively, and the number of those seeking medical assistance has increased at the main Centre of Family Medicine in Pristina. They come with symptoms of seasonal flu, says Radio Kosovo Valbona Dermaku, a pediatric specialist:
These days there were increased cases of children visiting. Especially the most sensitive age of children in five years. There were multiple cases, but they were managed and treated with symptoms. Usually there are more symptoms like these: High temperature, fever throat pain, headache, muscle pain etc.”, she said.
Dermack further points out that the children's flu is usually treated and symptoms up to seven days but not antibiotics.
Meanwhile, even at the Kosovo National Institute of Public Health, they say flu intensity is in high circulation activity, exceeding the epidemic threshold. Faik Hoti from this institution appeals for inoculation:
The “Respects which have registered have passed the epidemic threshold, this is not an unexpected thing, but, however, we urge citizens to use the most efficient means that they have to prevent the flu, which is the vaccine”, he said.
Hoti suggests that any citizen in our country can be vaccinated indiscriminately, including children from six months to age five.
