A specialised Italian team, CBRN (Clear, Biological, Chemical, Radiological), part of the Support Battalion of the Regional Command of KFOR, has conducted a control operation at the Eurostheel waste disposal plant in the Pec municipality.
Mission NATO said this control is a routine activity conducted by KFOR to support the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning in order to monitor the state of industrial objects and support local authorities in conducting chemical and radiation risk reduction operations.
“These activities are always carried out in co-operation with CBRD teams of other KFOR contingents and with support from Kosovo Police”, the mission said in the announcement.
KFOR reiterated that it continues to realise its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 to contribute to creating a secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement at any time and impartially.
