Kosovo's Special Prosecutor said he has filed charges against one person for attacks on members of NATO's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, in May 2023.
According to the report, the M.D., allegedly on May 29th of 2023, in co-operation and co-ordination with other war crimes indictees from Kosovo, through the use of violence, weapons and strong means, had attacked and seized members of KFOR, Kosovo Police “, causing bodily injuries and material damage”.
The prosecution said it has analysed data that the M.D. had participated in violence against KFOR members near the Zvecan municipality facility.
The prosecutor from the Special Prosecutor has asked the Court to convict the defendant by condemning him according to the law, as well as the same to continue the detention measure until the end of this constitutional case”, the report said.
Violence in Zvecan erupted when local Serbs rejected the entry of new Albanian mayors into Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo, inhabited by Serb majority, following the May 2023 local elections that were boycotted by them.
