The European Union for Rule of Law in Kosovo mission (EULEX) announced it is strengthening the Specialised Police Unit through the permanent delocation of members of the European Gendarmerie Force.
Forces from France, Italy, Lithuania and Portugal were said to work on the Units, provided by Poland Police to fulfil the Mission's mandate in support of stability throughout Kosovo.
According to EULEX, the Police Unit is expected to arrive in Kosovo the following days to address the mission's need for additional ground forces to better support Kosovo counterparts.
“NJPSR is expected to arrive in Kosovo during the following days to address the mission's need for additional ground forces to better support Kosovo counterparts, including functioning as the second security response in Kosovo, if needed and necessary. NJPSR will carry out visible patrols and will contribute to the Mission's clear insight into the situation. This is going to be the fifth edition of EULEX's NJPSR, while the first diversification was made in March 2022”, it is said further in EULEX's announcement.
The EU mission in Kosovo has reiterated that it serves as the second reacter in Kosovo. The first is the Kosovo Police, while KFOR is the third.
