In Kosovo Specialised Chambers ( The 55th witness of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, Ramiz Qariqi, continues in the trial of Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. The government claimed that in the second battalion of the 121 Brigade, which he belonged to, there were military police. Ex-partor of KLA added that [...]

Ex-partor of The KLA added that there were military police in KLA battalions.

Initially, a KLA regulation was introduced in which, according to prosecutor Sylvia Déskoli, it was said the witness had also given to his soldiers.

According to this document, it was said that both the military police and its role were spoken of and their behavior in terms of the civilian population and others.

The Witness confirmed that according to the regulation, military police controlled travel permits, people's permits, arrests and sent soldiers to the brigade.

Ramiz Qariqi confirmed that there were up to seven members in his battalion in the military police, and its commander was Ajet Hasani, while his deputy, Ajvaz Coripuzi.

The Witness said the military police were starting to operate in late May and early June 1998. Also, he claimed that the military police command at the brigade level was Haxhi Shala, known as “Topi”.

He also claimed that the military police had the right to arrest even battalion commanders in case of breaking the rules.

“That's what they said then”, Qreric said, claiming soldiers without a permit were also disarmed.

He also confirmed that permission from military police was needed for the arrest of civilians.

“has been their task, not our”, said the government witness.

According to him, these regulations reflect military police duties while serving as commander.

Then he was presented with a report saying that someone was on the ground and introduced the military police regulation for the battalion along with clarification. The Witness said it was done without his presence from Haxhi Shala.

Without my presence. (Takim kept) The one who kept him here, Haxhi Shala”, he said.

Even at the beginning of the session, the witness was questioned by prosecutor Sylvia Déscoli, who focused on the statement the witness had given during Fatmir Limaj's trial in 2005.

The prosecutor said in a statement the witness had said that to move from one battalion to another, he had to ask permission, which he confirmed.

For Isaac Musliu he said he was part of the units in the command of Fatmir Limaj, and his nickname was Cerchizi. Likewise, even in earlier statements, he had said Musliu had a beard and was named after Albanian warrior Cerchiz Topul.

Curriqi said the proposal that Isaac Musliu has given him Ismet Jashari.

The prosecutor demanded that a journal with several scriptures with each of them be accepted in material evidence, while the witness was questioned, while this was rejected by all the defendants' defence parties.

Prior to that, the chairman of the court, Charles Smith III, abolished the April 4th ruling regarding requests for the failure to participate in the courtroom.

The court ruled that such requests should be made 48 hours before the hearing for which permission is being requested except special cases.

Otherwise, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, on September 30th, 2022, has handed over the confirmed amended indictment against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, which consists of ten points of charges, where the latter are charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.

On April 29th 2022, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office had handed over a amended indictment to Hashim Thaci, Kadri Wessel, Rexhepi and Jakup Krasniqi, where four indictees have committed war crimes even in Gjilan, Budakov and Semtish.

On November 9th 2020, in their first appearances, Hashim Thaci's Jakup Krasniqi has been declared innocent of the charges placed on them. Wessel has also been declared in his presentation on November 10th, as has Rexhep Selimi on November 11th.
