(an hour ago)President Donald Trump is at Andrews Joint Base, where the new presidential jet was discovered. It's a luxury plane donated by the Qatar government, which covers the red, white and blue colors, as well as the “United States of America”.
The aircraft has been intended to serve as a temporary solution between two modified Boeing 747-,200 aircraft, used as Air Force One since 1990, and two new planes that the Boeing Company has been modified but are not expected to be ready for another two years.
The US Air Force announced on Friday that the new aircraft would soon launch test flights for modifications conducted on the plane. Security and defence are our top priority, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said.
From the beginning, we carefully assessed every requirement to accelerate delivery, maintaining the high standards required by the presidential mission. This project proves that the United States Air Force can act quickly without sacrificing quality, security or credibility. ”
Trump has expressed disappointment with delays in the production of new Air Force One aircraft, which will most likely not end before his mandate ends in 2029.
