By this year citizens are also obliged to pay property taxes for agricultural parcels, but the obligation is not valid for citizens of four municipalities in the country's north.
From the Ministry of Finance have indicated that this year all landowners, across Kosovo's territory, will pay taxes on agricultural property, regardless of whether they are cultivated agricultural parcel units.
The head of the Property Legal Tax Issues Division, Vehap Hashani, has provided details to KosovoPress about this tax obligation.
In August 2023, Law No. 06/L-005 for Taxation in the Realm has been changed and completed through Law No. 08/L-224, with agricultural properties whatsoever, agricultural parcels (lands) throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo are taxed, regardless of whether or not they are cultivated agricultural parcels. In particular, property tax for none of the property categories applies to four northern Kosovo municipalities for political reasons”, Hashani says
Moreover, he has added that these parcel units are also subject to tax release worth up to 50,000 (50,000) euros, namely, the physical person specifically the farmer.
“Consequently with new legal changes, agricultural land starting in the 2024 tax year, however, these parcel units are subject to tax release worth up to 50,000 (50,000) euros -- namely, the physical person, namely, the farmer -- determines which agricultural unit seeks to release by November 30th of the year, before the tax year, and the municipality releases it up to the estimated value of agricultural land, but not more than 50,000 euros ($50,000) <x1); Hashan adds.
