Russia attacked Ukraine's energy system and several cities with navigation and ballistic missiles plus fears on Wednesday in a <x0human “ ” on Christmas Day, Ukraine's president, Volodyyr Zelenskiy, said.
Nearly three years after the war, the attacks injured at least six people in the northeastern town of Kharkivi and killed one person in the Dnepropetrovsk region, governors said there.
US President Joe Biden denounced the attack as wild “ ” and said he had asked the US Department of Defence to push ahead a new increase in military aid to Kiev.
Half a million people in the Kharkiwi region have been without heat, at only a few degrees Celsius above zero, while there have been disruptions in the capital Kyev and elsewhere.
“Today, (Russian President Vladimir) Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhumane? More than 70 rockets, including ballistic missiles and more than a hundred offensive drones,” he said.
Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed that it had carried out a “mass attack” on what it said were critical energy objects supporting the work of “military-industrial” of Kiev, Reuters writes, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
